Seasoned with the folky strum of mandolins and the chiming of piano, “Snow Angels” is a fresh winter anthem that offers an ode to the winter season, with Davis singing, “I wake up to the sunrise, and look out my window, what I see outside, is a winter wonderland,” as he takes delight in “dancing with the snow angels.” Davis’s breathy vocal is a comfort amid the snow storm, gentle and sweet, with blossoming images of spending warm times with family and friends during the winter season.

Accompanying the song’s release is an innovative music video that employs stop-motion animation across a chalkboard, including hand-drawn snow crystals and an intricate illustration of a winterscape composed by five kids. The video’s animation was directed by Keiko Sono of New York-based Flick Book Studio.

Ross Davis released his second full-length album Yellow Brick Road in October 2012 through independent label Bean Blossom Productions, comprising seven self-penned songs, including the timeless electricity of guitar-driven “1950’s Rock ‘n Roll,” the folk-rock balladry of “Bean Blossom” (about childhood memories at a rustic cabin in southern Indiana), and the inspirational title track. Contributors to the project include Grammy Award-winning session guitarist Brent Mason, and Juno Award-nominated Canadian songwriter Annabelle Chvostek who played fiddle on the “Wonderland” track.

The album has received positive reviews, such as the following:

“Indeed, the truest message of “Yellow Brick Road” shines via its instrumental showcase, admittedly making the lyrics almost secondary to the hummable melodies and fine musicianship here.“ –Chuck Lance, entertainment journalist and previously Senior Editor at Billboard magazine.

“The Indianapolis based songwriter is not afraid to stick to an adult-oriented vintage sound that sets him apart from the followers that just jump on every new passing trend to try and get a foothold in the music business.” –Indie Band Guru (read full review).

“Ross Davis has been busy building his Yellow Brick Road and this 7 song collection does not disappoint.” –Joshua Smotherman, Middle Tennessee Music (read full review).

The following music video features the song “1950′s Rock ‘n Roll,” which is one of the tracks on the Yellow Brick Road album.
